Remember Murder Hornets? This piece had me on the edge of my seat.

“Here is the plan the team came up with. Find the nest of these giant hornets and eliminate them. It really is the plot line from a horror movie.”

Big networking events are hard because all I really want to do is chat around the campfire.

If you ever wanted to help us grow at Honeybadger, here is your chance! We’re a small team and your referrals really help. ✨

PDX -> DEN for Laracon. I think my last Laracon was in 2018 or 2019. Excited to be back! Say hello if you see me.

I will not send a “Stew Peters is literally a nazi now” gotcha text to a friend of the family who kept sending me his videos in 2021. I will leave them blocked. That’s definitely progress.

Treat Your AI Assistant Like It’s a Fork Bomb With a Chat Interface Because it is

One of the reasons I think devcontainers are more useful now, because you can firewall them and really lock down access. But also good team security practices.

I will keep my 4-day work week thanks.

I have completed my first run in a few weeks. Please clap.

If you wish cmd+k would add a link to your selected text in Slack like it does in every other app (instead of opening the search bar), here’s some config for Karabiner Elements (an essential Mac app imo).

The truly disturbing part is the repeated outrage that an LLM “lied” to him. It’s like screenshot dunking a rock for falling on your head. Some people really are cooked on this technology.

Saw a few people say they don’t believe in hell but Trump should go there. Pretty sure Trump’s hell is obscurity, his name on no one’s tongue. He’s all but guaranteed to end up there eventually.

I love this future where my daughter texts me a genmoji of me crying when she is upset

(but also it’s kind of adorable lol)

hey bro have you heard of arch linux?

I could probably make the case that going for a long walk is on net better than any other physical activity (for me, obviously)

Ah yes, a politics of national victimhood with nostalgia for a lost golden age. Famously punk.

matty stratton: “Being right wing is punk” some motherfucker actually typed those words seriously (source)

“We want this to be a welcoming place for people who bring kindness, curiosity, and care.”

This is why when Tim Riley asked if Honeybadger would be a founding patron of the Hanami project, I said please take my money.

That’s a wrap, RailsConf. The friendships I’ve formed these past 16 years in Ruby mean the world to me.

I’ll see you around!

overstimulated and the conference hasn’t even started yet

I brought five of our original RailsConf Portland 2013 stickers with me. These may be the last five in existence. Lmk if you are feeling lucky. :)

Sneak peek… Bringing a couple of these to RailsConf next week (one to give away and one to play on). Stop by the Honeybadger booth for a chance to win one.

most don’t realize Wherever You Will Go by The Calling is a song about whole life insurance

Damn, strong start to season 4 of The Bear

Here’s something I’ve been working on in my spare time over the past few weeks. Your AI agent can now talk to Honeybadger. 👀

“The United States was the largest donor to Gavi, whose work is estimated to have saved the lives of 17 million children around the world over the past two decades.”

And if you like jazz, Portland‘s KMHD also streams online.

Erika Hall: A lot of you probably know this but KEXP.org is transmitting from a better world. Humans talking and playing music by humans.

Ever since, they got a broadcast license in the Bay Area, it’s been the soundtrack at home and at the studio, but you can internet/app listen from anywhere. (source)

tbh I didn’t need to know why resist libs call Ted Cruz Rafael

y’all know Tucker also said real men should tan their balls right

Tucker Carlson is not, under any circumstances, “the voice of reason” (source)

This would be such a tragedy, and irreversible.

Axios is just asking questions: what if the accelerationist AI millenarians are right?

This is the least critical piece I’ve read in a while… just pure drivel.

This is a local business owner and church member who has been in the US since 1994. This is cruel and unnecessary. And the kicker is that arrests like this will shutter local economies (wine tourism in this case). It literally hurts everyone. I hope you enjoy not visiting vineyards, I guess?

explaining protocol handlers to your therapist is actually not too far-fetched

Konnor Rogers: unsolicited first interaction with someone having them tell me to “go to therapy to fix your hate problem” over me expressing displeasure about mailto: links is just weird. (source)

ngl it’s been a rough week and my anxiety is through the roof. at least the week is almost over

Someone is definitely going to make this though

“the agent can ping code owners for extra context”

In episode 1, Gilfoyle codes a MCP server to DM questions to coworkers on Slack so he doesn’t have to chat with them directly. (source)

I wonder what Russia’s political theater is like

I just became a premium subscriber to Mike Monteiro’s newsletter. The newsletter is free but you can also pay for it. Can’t wait to get more of the same.

OH: “you may wonder why a llama is talking about European regulations”

The comment history on these PRs is bleak. Remember when software development used to be teams of smart people working together, instead of mentoring chat bots?

These Russian nesting dolls are too much

Am I too old for a shiny new bmx bike

Win “friends” and influence people

If you want people to open your marketing emails, especially if it’s been a while since they heard from you, don’t make the subject “It’s been a while”

Why did i have caffeine that late

It’s highly unfortunate that “cursed knowledge” and “critical knowledge” are currently overlapping in the Venn diagram.

If you want to know more about Tulsi Gabbard and Science of Identity, the QAA podcast folks did a great episode about it.

Very excited about the weather this week

It’s a gorgeous day here in the Pacific Northwest. Just finished a morning run.

May the fourth be with you 🌤️
