There’s this weird thing lately where folks I have known or followed for years start posting obvious AI content, and it’s like a second-level simulation. They were already an avatar, now they’re an avatar filtered through a machine.

  • Are you including me in this? Is it content about AI, or content created by AI?

  • Oh no, you're the opposite of what I'm talking about. I think we should be writing about AI, I'm talking about the posts you see where it's obvious that someone i.e. had Claude interview them about a topic and then just posted the result.

  • … people are doing that?

  • Prior to ChatGPT a lot of the same people were doing engagement farming and this is an extension of that. Lots of this on LinkedIn but seeing it everywhere, and not always from who I'd expect. Sometimes the substance is even useful, but it's a weird way to consume someone's thoughts.

  • I find LLMs genuinely useful for some types of content (especially documentation), but I use it more in the production process and always do heavy editing. I think if you have opinions you should take the time to write them down yourself (which is the process of thinking, at least for me).

  • I’m similar. I use it to check my posts for correctness. I ask it to back up claims in my posts with references found online, and I go through what it finds to make sure nothing seems amiss. I don’t like getting it to generate the words for me because frankly I’m 100x better at that than it is.
