Might switch from Audible to Libro.fm. I’d occasionally miss Whispersync, but maybe I can live with that?

Fwiw you can also use Plex to self-host audio books and on iOS connect e.g. Prologue to it.
From libro.fm it’s easy to download the books.
This way you can keep access to the books even if something should ever happen to libro.fm.

That's what I'm looking at doing! I already have a Synology+Plex setup. I also recently learned you can download and de-DRM your Audible books. I don't want to rely on that long-term though, a one-time process ideally. Amazon already screwed us over on the Kindle downloads.

Instead of plex I use audiobookshelf. There are native apps for iOS and Android. www.audiobookshelf.org

How do you have your audiobook library set up on plex? I’ve been scared away by the multitude of different guides.

I have a library just for audio books, probably you will need to dick around with metadata because of weird matching

Yeah I’m also running Plex on Synology, it’s a bit unpolished for audiobooks but it works good enough I think

I made an Audiobook library (selected "music" as the type) that is backed by a media volume that contains the files. Each book is a folder containing one file per chapter. Prologue seems to understand this pretty well so far—thanks for the tip on that app
