Checking out kipclip. Something I’ve been wanting for a while is a pinboard alternative built on ATProto. I like that this one is built on a community schema for PDS storage, as opposed to Rito. I wonder if the community lexicon will become standard?

That said, I like Rito’s pinboard-ish UI and that it has search+social features. Trying to decide which approach makes more sense long-term. How much does the schema matter in practice?

kipclip also has built-in tag management, which is essential imo. If you rename a tag, it renames it across all your bookmarks. 👌

    ..providing the records actually contain all the data you would want to save (which is not the case for all atproto records sadly, sometimes it's just a reference to an internal field)

    it's a bit unclear what the uptake of community lexicon is right now honestly. the forums are not super active but it's the only initiative I know of that actually tries to standardize some of these things. on the flip side it's just json on your pds so you could transform one to the other..
  • That's a good tip for evaluating new atproto services, thanks! I love the community lexicon idea in theory, especially since I could build my own app view on top of it and it would just be less weird if it's already in a service-agnostic format.
